Maui Moisture Curl Quench Collection Review

As promised I’m working on doing a blog weekly or bi-weekly. With that said, here we go………
This is my product review on Maui Moisture Curl Quench collection. (DISCLAIMER: I purchased these all on my own because I was curious from my local Walgreens.)

This brand/line is vegan, silicone free no surfactants, no harsh chemicals, etc. Great for thick curly type hair.

Maui Moisture Curl Quench+Coconut Oil Shampoo
Maui Moisture Curl Quench+Coconut Oil Conditioner
Maui Moisture Curl Quench+Coconut Oil Curl Milk
Maui Moisture Curl Quench+Coconut Oil Curl Smoothie

Maui Moisture Curl Quench+Coconut Oil Shampoo: slippery in consistency and smelled lovely. Gently cleanse my hair and scalp, low to mid suds and not film/residue left on my hair.

Maui Moisture Curl Quench+Coconut Oil Conditioner: Creamy consistency (us kinky curly haired ladies love the thick conditioners), I let it sit for a bit 10mins plus. Rinsed with warm and cool water. I also sat under my hair steamer with the conditioner. Left my hair well-conditioned.

Maui Moisture Curl Quench+Coconut Oil Curl Milk: I used as a leave in. It was creamy thick like as the conditioner.  I applied on wet to damp hair in sections.  I followed up with the……….

Maui Moisture Curl Quench+Coconut Oil Curl Smoothie: Creamy thick. I applied on damp hair with the shingling method and let air dry.  Wonderful results.

My verdict is:
Yes give it a try. Maui Moisture Curl Quench+Coconut Oil is one of my go to product line. One thing I must state, if you want more defined curls with a hold use a curling gel product with the curl smoothie.  My hair had volume which was totally fine with me. If I wanted it to not ‘get big’ I would have followed with a curling hold gel type product.
My hair was clean, soft, smelled good and not heavy, not greasy. And again, I have natural hair with color and she enjoyed this spa day! LOL

Its 2019 and I'm backkkkkkkk

YES its me again (for those who don’t know…

I’m MaLinda AKA online as ThAbAdDeStBaBy since 2001 and now Kinky Curly Blue)….
It has been a LONG LONGGGG while since I blogged and you know what.. Life sometimes do that to you.

Now to what’s important …HAIRRRRR and everything regarding it.
Okay so, Officially I made a promise and stopped cutting my hair (unless its trimming my ends). During the last 3-4yrs I have tried quite a few various products. Do I have staples or ‘go to’…brand wise yes. But yall know I’m a product JUNKIE!!!!
My go to’s are:
Alikay Naturals line
Maui Curl Quench line (www.mauimoisture.com)
Koils By Nature line
Mixed Chicks line

Why so many??? It all depends on how I feel, the outcome I am looking for, the weather/temperature and of course what I have not ran out of. TEEHEEE

I have started maybe once a month the Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay Mask for my hair and face.
Also I do steam condition my hair ever so often.
I still refresh my blue hair color via Manic Panic Atomic Turquoise/Shocking Blue/Voodoo blue, Ion Sapphire hair colors.

On my next blog I may go into coloring…. Or the natural color life….Or DIY for your hair.  Whichever one.

Until next time, I just wanted to re-introduce myself and give a basic summary of things.. or maybe just ramble. LOL. Stay Tuned!

Happy Scalp is Happy Hair, Growing my cut out, & Awesome News

Yes my topic is not the usual but its a very true statement. If your scalp is healthy and you are taking care of it, your hair will thrive. Now that also includes the fact that you are also taking care of your hair.

I say this because when I first cut my hair, I had had had to make sure my scalp was not irritated, buildup from products, etc. That is why I personally prefer natural products. I still use Tree Naturals, Main Element Love product lines. Plus some others that I've mentioned in my previous blogs. And I still love them all as they do not effect me in any negative way.

Anyhow, I am currently growing my cut out..as I visioned, my end result style with my front being longer than the back curly huge fro like. Yeah, hard to explain but I see it in my head.
While I am growing out my hair, I decided to do protectant styles like the crochet braids, wigs, and maybe a weave (I will get to this one shortly). Since I have rocked out the crochet braids, I have moved on to a natural curly wig. Yes child a wig. This means that underneath, my hair will be either cornrowed or twisted and maintained. (You still have to take care of your hair with any style you choose to do rather its a weave, wig, braids etc. Never, never never, neglect your tresses!!)

With that said... I have been working on expanding my hair business to include high quality Brazilian/Peruvian kinky curly textured extensions. I am still in the beginning stage and hoping all goes well to open Summer/Fall 2016. Basically I wanted to provide an alternative for naturals during the time when we just want to protect and give our hair a break. I will of course test out every detail of the hair extensions before making it available to the public. Yes that means I will be rocking a weave and see how it withstand all aspects from daily wear to even heat. On that note, stay tuned!!!!

Other than that, its the usual with my hair. I'm moisturizing, shampooing, conditioning and steaming. The main things really. I just think that this last cut was my last. I can not lie...I do miss my hair. But its growing like crazy and I'm happy that it is!  Until next time, HAPPY NEW YEAR! Thank you for reading! :0)

So I cut my hair this summer

Yes that's right everyone, I cut my hair over the summer. And as you know, hair grows back...no biggie on that.

I did the popular sides and back short with the top longer cut. Me and my boo (well he held a mirror for me in the back) decided to get the shears and cut away. Afterwards, I colored it a honey mix with a dark cooper red to myvtips on the top. However, the cooper was a demi permanent  color, did not last long :0(

I can say that it was as easy as it gets when it comes to getting up wash and go, curls pop. I do miss my length from time to time. And my almighty puff's I use to rock. I may let it grow back in a style that I envision in my head...but that is to be continued.

Currently my hair is in crochet braids, well twist. I just did a review with pics here. Fluffy Twist, something a little different but thus far I like it. I have to play around with it. Just something easy as I have to get up early for work and have a toddler....(my hair is the last thing for me to have to stress about)

As always, moisture for my hair is virtue. Nothing far as products changed EXCEPT while my hair is braided I use natural oil mixture and/or SCurl Moisturizer Activator. Yes honey I do not use braid sprays, my scalp HATES them with a passion. My hair thrives with the SCurl. Crazy right, but its true.

Plus the way I do my crochet twists, I can take them out and reuse without having to retwist. Yes my little trick that cuts down the timeframe.

On that note, I still have my longer twist done the same way with marley braid hair that I need to wash and put away. Yes the little things makes life easier. I can't stress it enough, be creative with your hair ladies.

The trick: If you love braids or twist, try the crochet method but in your free time leading up to when you about to do your hair, braid/twist in advance. I used a long rod for my window to twist the hair on and then slide it on off, and at the fold is where I looped it when crocheting. Yes its like that. I may do a tutorial on my fotki page. Ummm

Moving along, I hope I did not rant too much. Well until next time, thanks for reading! :0)

From Red 2 Blue

This is totally overdue. BUT nonetheless here is my adventure of going from RED hair to BLUE hair.

I did this a while ago, about lets say 2months ago to be exact. First I did a clarifying shampoo mixed with baking soda a few times the first day. (pic in glasses)
I then added a bit of 20 Vl Oreal developer in the mix and my hair got a bit lighter on day 2. Now I did this in a 3 to 4 day timeframe and did intense deep conditioning leave in after each time. Which I must admit, is HIGHLY crucial and necessary. After all of this and to the point where I felt it was time, I did use a lightener by Ion and the 20Vl Oreal Developer and got it to the much needed tint (pic after me in glasses or 5th pic on top).

The day after I added the Manic Panic line of blues (pic #6) in my front area and the rest with conditioner and let it sit under the steamer for about 15min and left on for most the day. I rinsed in cool water and WALA I have my blue back. How much I loveeeee and missed my blue hair. The red even though I have had it so many times in the past just wasn't doing anything for me. The blue is true to me/a keeper.

Now I must say, condition, condition & moisturize, moisturize is the key when performing such a tedious task on ones strand. I did trim my ends during the mist of my adventure because well, it needed it. but other than that. My hair is fine... I keep it moisturized and will be doing a protein treatment before my protective summer bday style. I will be refreshing my blueness after my protective summer style.

Secondly, I must say, I am a professional.. I have been doing color forever (since the 90's) so I know a thing or two. If you are NOT familiar then DO NOT ATTEMPT AT HOME. Consult a beauty salon/professional colorist that is familiar with YOUR hair type and texture.

Lastly, if you have done this before and interested well check out Sally Beauty local stores or online for the products I have used minus the baking soda and the clarifying shampoo even though they do carry that, I purchased mines from local dollar store I believe.

Anyhow, thanks for reading. :0)

Spring Fling All About My Own Hair

Happy Spring to all,
So as you can see, I am a red head, about to go back to my blue.. Yes that is correct, I am going back to blue. This red is not doing anything for me as it use to. So I am in the process of washing often to get the color out. Or I could just use a purifying shampoo and baking soda mix to strip my hair.... ummm.

What have my hair been up too > Nothing spectacular, its doing what it wants. I am still using natural products in/on my scalp and hair. I will be trimming my ends after I move this week. Mostly rocking wash-n-go's, with maybe hair pulled to the back or side or whatnot.

My sides > Are growing back nicely, they now are able to be pulled into a puff without hairpin assistance LOL

Protective Styling > I may do twist mixed with crochet twist, or mini twist, or jumbo/Havana twist..all are my favs go to protective

Well that's really all until I redo my blueness. Stay tuned and thanks for reading.

I'm a redhead....

So I let the blue go for now. You know me.. I switch up a lot and I love it! I used my favorite line of all times once again.. MANIC PANIC.

What did I do... I started with faded blue..

I washed my hair with Coco curls shampoo hydrating shampoo. Then I put the Coco curls revitalizing conditioner on my none colored hair and Manic Panic Rock 'N' Roll Red
on my blue/colored area in the front. I than sat under the hair steamer. Yes hair steamer... Now let me let you in on a secret, hair steamers are awesome for your face, skin, scalp and hair. Also with processing color. BUT with color make sure you have protection because after awhile some red dripped on my..which was fine because I had on old clothing. Anyhow. Afterwards, I let my hair cool, then rinsed in warm to cool water.
I sprayed Oyin Handmade Juices & Berries Leave in, then I used the Koils by Nature Shealoe Leave in and the Herbal Peppermint Gel for setting/none frizz. And let air dry...

And lastly, I styled to a upward top like ponytail with my PuffCuff (which is an awesome accessory for those with thick hair, google it) .

Now moving along, I have stated before that I have challenged myself starting November 2014 to NOT cut my hair.. and guess what.. I haven't... the only thing close to it would be trimming my ends which I will soon/eventually as I had to purchase new shears because some ppl want to use it for things other than hair..meaning damaging the integrity of the blades. My sides are growing in nicely though from it being shaved bald.
It is nice and tightly curled/koiled... shrinkage is something I tell you but hey I love it, ppl can assume that one hair isnt long or whatever. who cares.

As far as staples, I still use the same products I mentioned in previous post. My hair and scalp adores them. I only added recently is Hairobic All Naturals Scalp Rejuvenator. I actually used it today for the first time. It as all natural oils and I was just curious. After massaging it in, it did give me a tangle sensation, Not too much but enough to make you say ahhhhhhh LOL.

Whats next: I will be recoloring the red with Manic Panics Vampire red.. just for another red enhancement  next week. I will post the outcome of that. I am excited about it too. About that vampire life LOL j/k,
As always, thank you for reading... I will always love hair and anything hair related...plus I am a professional as well. So with that said. Happy Hair-ing! LOL :0)
